How We Began?
At a hari anugerah in May 2007, a few CGs’ of year 76 attended it as one of our classmate Gloria Goh was invited to be the inspirational speaker. After the award ceremony, Puan Che Su, the principal of SMK Convent brought up the topic of a school alumni and requested us to consider setting it up as it will help the school greatly. The seed was planted. We proceeded to see the icons of the school, Ms Murugesu and Ms Soo about a CG Alumni. They were all supportive of it and Ms Murugesu repeatedly said, “Don’t talk about it, do it.” You could say, she watered the seed. From there, two CGs’ of 76 began from scratch. Ooi Eusie, operating out from Kuala Lumpur and Lim Lay Hoon out of Taiping. A few informal meetings started, culminated in a protem meet of ex-teachers, cgs’ from various years and we were born in September.
Who Are We?
Knowing who we did not want to be helped us decide who we wanted to be. We did not want to be a society that host a dinner once a year. We did not want an organization that promotes disunity. So who are we? We are a ’sisterhood’ of ex-convent girls of Taiping that has been created to:
- serve the school
- support members’ need and wishes
- help the community
